Q-Park Shambles

Paid in advance for a space, but when we arrived the car park was completely full, with cars queuing all the way back past the roundabout. Not what you want in a busy city! It took us hours to find somewhere else with overnight parking. What an ordeal, really disappointing after booking ahead.

Our experience at Q-Park Shambles wasn’t great. We had to wait 40 minutes just to enter the car park due to long queues, which was frustrating to say the least. Once inside, the parking spaces were very tight, making it difficult to manoeuvre. We were parked on the 4th floor and discovered there was no lift access, which made things really challenging with a baby stroller. For the price they charge, you’d expect better facilities and easier access. Overall, convenient location but definitely not worth the stress or cost.

£27.90 for the afternoon! Spaces incredibly small and tight, I get that parking in York isn't great but this will stop people going, certainly will in my case. No prices are posted that can be easily seen, we had a busy day and were in a bit of a rush so I thought, what the hell, its going to be £10 maybe £15 tops, that's fine it's worth it for the day out. Disgusting and find it genuinely insulting that they feel it okay to rip people off so much!!! I will make sure that I never give another single penny to this car park operator.

I have used this car park several times now when I visit York as it's close to my hotel and they offer a discount if booked in advance. It's easy to find and always extremely clean and well lit. I've always managed to get a space with no queuing and the price is reasonable. As I pre book, the barrier lifts automatically without the need for tickets. I usually visit either on my own with my dogs or my daughter joins me and this car park feels safe and secure.

Arrived ten minutes early. The attendant explained that the system would only charge for the duration of the booking. An automatic "overrun" charge was then taken which is NOT explained clearly upon booking and a refund request refused. So I effectively paid £16.70 for an hour's parking. This company are unethical and essentially thieves (just look at their TrustPilot) and as a local I'll just return to Castle car park. This review will arguably cost them more than what it would have cost to refund ten minutes that wasn't even an "overrun" given the duration of my booking.
