What a splendid place, it's not the Ritz, but for £90 it's absolutely fantastic, there isn't lots of parking, but we arrived in good time so got a space. The location is perfect, 10 minutes walk at the most, to the heart of York, we had a lovely day at the Christmas market then headed back to the Mason's Arms, the staff are absolutely first rate, exceptionally helpful, for any requests we had. The bar area is really a true English pub, with a great atmosphere, we came for the Christmas market and ate food there, but having seen the plates of food, served in the Mason's Arms, we honestly wished we had dined here, it's proper hearty pub grub, we were so envious of the food, but that's not a problem, as we live 40 mins away and will be back soon, that's fof sure. Overall a typical English pub with great food and fantastic food, something our beautiful country is loosing at an alarming rate. Keep doing what you do guys, we'll be back very soon. 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Lovely stay and the staff were brilliant. Great food, great location and would certainly recommend it to anyone wishing to visit York. It met all of our requirements and we certainly enjoyed our stay. Very warm rooms, free parking, TV, USB charging for your mobile phones, hairdryer, fan to cool you down in hot weather and also a ceiling fan. Very good selection of food in the pub and the portions were very generous in size. Value for money and would go there again. (Photo was taken at night outside our bedroom door.)
What a cracking independent pub. Saw reviews for this pub and was close to where we were staying on a wet Sunday autumn night. As soon as we got inside it felt very welcoming. Young and very polite/ friendly staff are a credit to the place. Food was tasty and large portions. Was a limited Sunday menu but was great for us. Nice variety of beers and lager.Went in a second night. Had a dish called chicken 65 I think. It was so tasty. My other half had pork belly and loved it. Had a couple pints of Black Sheep blonde. Lovely.
Stopped for lunch on a day out in York. Not really sure what we wanted to eat and having arrived at the end of a section of city wall we saw The Masons, quick google looked good. They were very accommodating for gluten intolerance for my wife. I had the best Steak and potato pie! The beer was also well kept and good selection.
Such an amazing place. Apart from the great food and super friendly staff, I absolutely loved the pigs decorations. Later, I found out about the wooden mice that can be counted and kept the kids busy and entertained. And the outside flowers? I have no words! Beautiful, colourful, joyful! Someone takes great care of them! 🌺
