Welcome to Yorkshire

•Laughter just got an earlier start time in Leeds!
If you're a fan of stand-up comedy in Leeds, chances are you’ve been to the HiFi Comedy Club, the city’s longest-running and much-loved comedy night. Since 2001, it’s been the go-to place for belly laughs every Saturday night. Now, in 2025, they’ve decided to shake things up a bit by launching a brand-new afternoon show every Saturday at 2pm.
And honestly, it makes sense. Whether you're not a night owl or just want to get your laughs in before tea, this new slot opens the doors for even more people to enjoy top-tier comedy at a time that works better for them.

A new chapter for the HiFi Comedy Club
This isn’t just some small experiment—it’s a proper addition to an already legendary club. Over the years, HiFi Comedy Club has been a breeding ground for some of the UK’s biggest comedy stars. Imagine being able to say you saw Alan Carr, Sarah Millican, or Russell Howard before they were household names. That’s the kind of legacy HiFi has built over its 24 years.
So, what's the deal with this new daytime gig?
Starting Saturday, 25th January 2025, the 2pm sessions will feature three comedians every week—just like their evening shows. For the launch, they’ve gone big with their lineup, booking the hilarious:
- MC Hammersmith, known for his unique hip-hop-infused comedy.
- Slim, often referred to as the king of the black British comedy circuit.
- Andre Vincent, an actor, writer, and all-round laugh machine.
The idea? To make comedy even more accessible—whether you’re in Leeds for the day, celebrating a special occasion, or just fancy a good laugh before the evening.
Why an afternoon comedy club is a game-changer
Let’s face it—Saturday nights aren’t for everyone. Some people don’t like late nights; others might want to skip the usual evening rush. That’s where this afternoon slot comes in. Whether you’re popping into Leeds for some shopping or looking for a unique activity to kick off a birthday weekend, a 2pm comedy show could be the perfect solution.
And it’s not just about convenience. As HiFi Club Manager Nicole Cartwright puts it, the club’s aim is to share laughs with more people. “What started as a small show back in 2001 has grown into this huge event with a loyal, almost cult-like following,” she explains. “Tickets sell out every week! Now, we want to mix things up and bring some laughter to even more people with these afternoon sessions.”
Here’s how it works:
- Doors open: 2pm.
- Show starts: Around 3pm (enough time to grab a drink and settle in!).
- Tickets: £15 each—available via Fatsoma.
- Where: The iconic HiFi Club, a venue as much a part of Leeds’ culture as the acts it’s hosted.
Laughs, legends, and lasting memories
The beauty of HiFi Comedy Club isn’t just its incredible lineups. It’s that feeling of being part of something bigger. For over two decades, it’s been a place where local audiences have supported comedy legends in the making.
Adding this Saturday afternoon slot feels like the next step in its story. More chances for more people to laugh, share stories, and create new memories.
So, if you’ve been waiting for a reason to check out Leeds’ longest-running comedy night, here it is. Whether you’re grabbing your mates, planning a date, or treating yourself, this is your sign to book a ticket, grab a pint, and let the good times roll.
And hey, who knows? The comedian you see this Saturday afternoon could be the next household name.
