In an impressive show of generosity, Yorkshire Garden Centres has raised over £24,000 for its Charity of the Year, Yorkshire Air Ambulance. The team across its four locations in Tong, Tingley, Otley, and Bingley set an ambitious target of raising £19,000, representing the cost of keeping Yorkshire Air Ambulance‘s helicopters in the sky for a day. The team surpassed this goal by more than 27%, raising a total of £24,253.
Supporting a Vital Cause
Yorkshire Air Ambulance relies solely on donations to fund its life-saving emergency response service. The Charity of the Year fundraising was managed by a committee led by the People and Culture team of Yorkshire Garden Centres. Steph Harrison, the People and Culture’s Sustainability Lead, expressed gratitude for the success of their efforts:
“Our fundraising has not only covered one full day of flying but has also covered one extra mission which is absolutely fantastic. Thanks to our fabulous team, customers, and supporters for helping us to make this possible.”
Helen Berriman, Yorkshire Air Ambulance‘s regional fundraiser for West Yorkshire, also shared her appreciation for the support: “From bucket collections in the centres and hosting our recycling banks to employees of the centre braving our challenge events, the team have been an invaluable support.”
The funds raised will make a significant impact on Yorkshire Air Ambulance‘s ability to continue its life-saving missions across the region.
A Legacy of Generosity
Since Tong Garden Centre was acquired in 2015, Yorkshire Garden Centres has raised over £80,000 for various charities. Beneficiaries include Forget Me Not children’s hospice,
Luke’s Lads, Butterflies Mental Health, The Cellar Trust, Candlelighters, and the National Literacy Trust. The team also supports smaller charities through its Kindness Pot initiatives.
