The residents of Meadowbeck Care Home in Osbaldwick, York were in for a delightful surprise when two baby lambs visited their home during the spring fair event.
The lambs, named Velma and Daphne, were brought to the fair by Rydale Animal Group and brought joy and excitement to the residents.

An Afternoon of Fun and Entertainment
The arrival of the lambs set a lively tone for the afternoon. Alongside the animal visitors, the residents enjoyed live music from Nikki Humberstone and indulged in a delicious afternoon tea while browsing homemade craft stalls.
Annaliza Kemp, General Manager of Meadowbeck Care Home, expressed her delight at the event:
“Our residents have really enjoyed their unusual visitors today. We knew that having the farm here would be a bit of fun for all our residents, especially as some find it difficult to go on many outings in our minibus.”
Therapeutic Benefits of Animal Companionship
Residents found joy in the therapeutic influence that the lambs brought. Marian, a resident who previously lived and worked on a farm, shared her excitement: “Having lived and worked on a farm, I used to love all the animals on the farm, especially the lambs. Today was very enjoyable, and it was wonderful that the animals were free to roam amongst us.”
