Googled the opening times of this chemist, it said 8.30-18.00. Very pleased as I live at the other side of town and was juggling picking up my mother’s prescription with 2 of my own appointments. Arrived 13.15 to find it closed. Sign on door showed regular closing time 1-2pm. Wasn’t able to return at 2 so local friend went in late afternoon to be told medication not in stock. It may be in by 3pm next day. I feel this is a small admin detail that if remedied could save a lot of time, effort and frustration for all customers.
Went in to get my mothers prescription and asked if I could get anything for her allergy, went into the little room and she was prescribed antihistermines, which we got there and then, fantastic!! however the other day I rang and asked if they could prescribe something for cystitis and they said they were unable to prescribe for over 65's she is 88, maybe it's certain meds they can only prescribe at her age, don't know. On the website it doesn't state that they close for dinner, which is quite rediculous for people who need to go there in their dinner break, think they shut for 12 till 1.
I just wanted to say how pleasant and helpful the staff are. It's very busy pharmacy, but they still had time to answer all my queries. 🙂
How this store survives is beyond me. I have previously had issues with this Boots because of the way it is organised - there are always huge queues for anything and they close at lunchtime (who closes at lunchtime in 2025?) I had to use it this week to get urgent antibiotics, or so I thought! I waited thirty minutes for a prescription which had been sent direct by the doctors. I saw people come in after me with their prescription and leave before me. I also saw that things ground to a halt when the pharmacist had an appointment in the little private room. When I asked how much longer it would be, I heard frantic whispering behind the counter (my request had obviously been overlooked!) and was finally told it would be another 10 minutes. 40 minutes! Not likely, with an elderly husband waiting in the car and even though the antibiotics were urgent. I had someone collect them the next day. Never again.
It is incredible how long it takes for prescriptions to be prepared here... often over a week after the doctor has sent the order through... even when marked urgent. Always opens late. Never closes late. And closed for an hour (and the rest) at lunchtime when people can take a break from work to go to the chemist. When open staff all stand chatting behind the counter ignoring waiting customers without even so much as an acknowledgement. Clearly insufficient staff for the volume of work and why not stagger staff break times to avoid completely closing. The staff always look harassed too which is testament to them clearly being understaffed. So Boots... pull your finger out and put more people into this branch.
