Product Description

This lead is rolled (or milled) which is of higher quality than cast and therefore conforms to BS EN 12588 : 2006. Code 3 lead is the thinnest gauge of lead used in commercial roofing and is suitable for light applications such as soakers at the abutment. Code 3 is 1.32mm wide and weighs 14.97kg per square metre (Thickness to BS EN12588 tolerances of +/- 5%) but in historic buildings or in buildings with more severe weather exposure it may be advisable to use thicker code 4 lead. As it is a thin gauge, Code 3 lead is easy to work with and, as with all lead flashing, the low melting point of lead means that you don’t use as much fuel to melt the material. To allow for thermal movement and to prevent cracking it is important to restrict use of code 3 lead flashing to lengths of 1m or less.    When ordering your code 3 lead, our standard lengths of 3 and 6m will give you multiple strips per roll but it is important to prepare the strips to the appropriate length and to remember that with the thinner gauge metal of code 3, the length of the flashing needs to be 33% less than the usual 1.5m strips. Features:   Been in use as a building material for centuries. Easily shaped Long lasting and flexible in all weather conditions. Easy to install Will out-perform other building materials (if the rules of good practice are followed) 100% recyclable time after time. Melting point - 327.4°C. Atomic weight - 207.2. Atomic number - 82. Density - 11.34g/cm3. Co-efficient of linear expansion - 0.0000297 per °C. Thermal Conductivity - 34.76W/m °C. Need a bespoke size?
