Atlántico Iraca Woven Placemat, Blue

Hand-woven set of 4 placemats in Colombia from iraca leaf, dyed in the deep blue that the weavers of the Andean valleys have been drawing from native plants for a long time before anyone thought to export it.. Blue iraca is the result of a dyeing tradition, as considered as the weaving itself — the leaf cut, prepared, steeped, and worked through a process that the weavers of Colombia's high valleys have never seen any reason to abbreviate. The colour sits somewhere between indigo and sky, and changes depending on where the light finds it.
