Only a small shelter on each platform and very limited seating available. There is no much to see or do while waiting for your train, it's a very typical basic railway station. From the road bridge it is clearly signed which platform is for which direction and there are regular services to Darlington, Middlesbrough and Redcar.
Pleasant country station with pleasant, fairly open aspect despite the surrounding greenery, but suffers from the problem common to unstaffed stations of not having fully enclosed and heated waiting shelters to keep passengers warm in cold weather. Trains every half hour in each direction (except Sundays), though services run through to Bishop Auckland rather than stopping at Darlington only once an hour. Long ramps down to platforms from the adjacent road bridge.
Beautiful quiet train station lovely place to wait for a train
