1 Your Account

1.1 Access to the Website and Services is not authorised by any other person or entity using your User ID other than you and you are responsible for preventing such unauthorised use. Individuals and entities whose privilege to access the Website or use the Services has previously been terminated by Yorkshire.com may not register for an account, nor may you designate any such individuals to use your account on your behalf.

1.2 Yorkshire.com relies on User IDs to determine whether users accessing the Website and using our Services are authorised to do so. If someone accesses our Website or Services using a User ID that we have issued to you, we will assume that access has been made by you. You are solely responsible for any and all access to the Website or use of the Services by persons using your User ID. Please notify us immediately if you become aware that your User ID is being used without authorisation.

2 Security and Privacy

2.1 Our secure server software encrypts all your payment card details. The process scrambles all the information, allowing no unauthorised third party to intercept the data. British Waterways Canal Open Days

British Waterways are holding a series of Open Days in 2012, where you can go along and see first-hand what it takes to keep the 200-year old Bingley Five Risewaterways working. Huddersfield Narrow Canal Lock Open Day takes place on Monday 12 March. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

A range of attractions presenting tales of the past:

  • National Coal Mining Museum near Wakefield is a real coal mine, giving you a taste of Yorkshire's industrial heritage, 140 metres underground!
  • Standedge Tunnel and Visitor Centre - Standedge Tunnel is the highest, longest and deepest canal tunnel in the UK, stretching for over 3 miles. The tunnel celebrated its 200th anniversary in 2011.
  • The North Yorkshire Moors Railway - From the smoke and steam pouring from the magnificent steam engines, to the cosy wood-panelled carriages and friendly conductor service - a visit to the North Yorkshire Moors Railway is like taking a step back in time.
  • Kirklees Light Railway - Always wanted to drive a steam train?  Well now you can! Footplate experience courses available on magnificent steam engines.
  • Wilberforce House in Hull explores the history of one of England's foremost abolitionists.
  • Leeds Industrial Museum at Armley Mills - Formerly the largest woollen mill in the world, the museum now explores the city's rich industrial past.
  • Wortley Top Forge, Sheffield is a 17th century water powered iron forge with three waterwheels. This ancient monument is undergoing restoration to its 1900s condition.
  • W R Outhwaite & Son, Ropemakers in Hawes shows you how to make the twist in the rope as you watch ropemaking in progress. 
  • The Station - Just over 40 years ago, the last train left the market town of Richmond. The tracks were torn up and the old Victorian railway terminus looked as though its glory days were over. But in 2007, after an enormous community effort, the magnificent old building re-opened its doors to a new generation of visitors.
  • Kelham Island Museum explores Sheffield's industrial steel heritage.
  • Colne Valley Museum, Golcar, near Huddersfield. Discover reconstructions, exhibitions, events and displays at these three 1840's weaver's cottages.
  • Keighley and Worth Valley Railway. Step back in time and enjoy a train ride through the heart of Brontë country.
  • Bradford Industrial Museum offers the splendour of the Mill Owner's House, the more humble Mill-workers' terraces and the museum's team of working horses.
