Yorkshire is the unofficial home of world cricket. No other county is as passionate about its cricket as Yorkshire. Yorkshire County Cricket Club has been responsible for nurturing the talents of some of the game's greatest players and it's home ground has been the venue for some of the defining matches in the game's domestic and international history.
From internationals held at the world famous Headingley Carnegie stadium and the historic Scarborough Cricket Festival which has been graced by players such as Bradman, Boycott and Hutton, to the picture postcard villages with local cricket matches taking place every week of the season, Yorkshire celebrates cricket like no other place in the world.
Backin' the Pavilion!
The stupendous new £21 million Carnegie pavilion opened in 2010. This prestige development offers the Ground's best viewing facilities, not to mention changing and press accommodation. As this proves, Headingley just keeps getting better and better. 120 years of cricket, and definitely not out!
Yorkshire County Cricket Club has produced some genuine legends of the game, among them Geoff Boycott, Len Hutton, Fred Truman and 2005 Ashes winning England captain, Michael Vaughan and now Jonny Bairstow and Joe Root. The club has also made its home in Headingley, just north of Leeds, for more than a century.
The club competes in all forms of top class domestic cricket, including County Championship, Twenty20 Cup, and ECB 40 over.
Welcome to Yorkshire proudly sponsors Yorkshire Country Cricket Club and to see a list of upcoming fixtures vist their website.
Scarborough's North Marine Road is home to Scarborough County Cricket Club, a cricket watchers delight, regularly hosting Championship and one-day matches in the coastal sunshine.
Another great spectacle is the 5-day Scarborough Cricket Festival played in August, plus another 5 days earlier in the summer. If you love cricket and fancy a day by the sea too, you'll be bowled over by Scarborough.
The Scarborough Club runs five teams, Under 11’s and Under 15’s in the Derwent Valley Junior League, the 3rd XI in the Beckett League, the 2nd XI in the York and District Senior League and the 1st XI in the Yorkshire ECB County Premier League.
