I dont reccomend this college level 3 animal management. the staff are rude despite trying to reason with them and students are getting behaviour points which ruined the chances of them coming back the next year to finish their course. and the facilities are awful. especially for the small rodents their enclosure sizes are tiny and are far from what they require giving them a poor quality of life especially because the course is all about welfare and treating all animals fair however they fail to do this.

"Safe guarding" Dont actually safeguard. No communication between the different staff in student services. Dont be suprised if you go here and have any issues with bullying, assault or even death threats because they simply wont do anything. Teachers are pretty nice tho

One star because quite frankly, 0 stars is not an option. The staff are rude and incompetent and can’t keep in the profession for more than a few months, leaving students with a lack of education and understanding due to their being no consistent teacher. The food prices and unbelievably ridiculous for what it is- deep fried bulk bought items sold for a ludicrous amount. Hull city academy students getting priority in queues, meaning other students are waiting up to 20 minutes whilst they get served their free eggs on toast. People stand in the outside areas throwing and kicking balls at other students heads, but this isn’t an issue to them. They are more bothered if you dare to look at your phone than they are at getting physically hurt by other students. I would not recommended this college to anybody, it needs serious improvements. More bothered about buying LED lights and playing rap music in the LRC than the safety and comfort of the students attending this college.

I started at bishop burton as a student in September of 2020 studying a level 3 Animal Management course, the majority of the first year was studying from home on video calls due to Covid. The second year was back to on campus classes. I felt out of my depth from day one, my class had suddently combined with another doing the same course so there was over 30 students cramped into one small classroom, there was never any one on one care, you just felt like a number among thousands of students. my course was 3 days a week i just about managed one of those days if that, i had reported my struggle with my course tutor, she said she would set up for me to chat to someone about the issues i was having to find a way forward, i came into the college on this day even though i really did not want to, this person i was supposed to meet with never turned up. Nothing ever came of this, i was given the option of attending 1 day for one week 2 days the next and back to the full 3 the week after to ''break me back in''. My main tutor hardly ever checked up on me nor did the others i had classes with who were aware i was struggling. There was never any care or comfort. A terrible chice going to that college, i left after 3 month into the second year. Some time after this i attended East riding college in beverley, the best experience! Felt so looked after and at home!, the tutors and the course couldnt have been better for me. Sorry this has been long, the bottom line is i dont recommmend attending this college.

Bishop Burton College (Attended 2017/18) I studied at Bishop Burton College for two years, finishing around June 2018. There were some good aspects: some of the staff were friendly and helpful, and I appreciated the hands-on learning. However, I was really disappointed by the way my progression was handled. I was told that if I completed all my work by the end of June, they would consider letting me move up to Level 3. I worked hard to meet that goal. Unfortunately, when the time came, my teacher Lindsey pulled me into her office and told me I wouldn’t be able to do Level 3—specifically because I’m dyslexic. This was really upsetting and unfair. Instead of being supported or given a fair chance, I felt judged based on my learning difficulty rather than my abilities. What makes it worse is that I later went to a different college (TEC) and completed Level 3 with no problems at all. My experience at Bishop Burton left me feeling let down and discouraged at the time. I hope the college has become more supportive and inclusive for students with learning differences since then. My advice for anyone considering Bishop Burton is to make sure you get clear answers about progression and support for learning needs. — Former Student (2016/2017/18)
