|Families supported by Martin House Children's Hospice had a fantastic weekend at the Symphonic Ibiza festival in Harrogate, thanks to a generous donation of 100 tickets. This special event allowed families and staff from the hospice to enjoy a night filled with live music and entertainment.
Symphonic Ibiza Festival Fun
The festival took place at the Yorkshire Showground, where families were treated to performances from well-known artists such as Heather Small and Rebecca Ferguson. DJ Alex Bowen, a familiar face from the popular show Love Island, also entertained the crowd before host Vernon Kay took to the decks.

The tickets were given to Martin House by Freddy White, the event organiser and Director at Sound & White, during a visit to the hospice earlier this summer. Freddy’s visit was particularly special as it coincided with the opening of a new teenage courtyard inspired by Love Island’s famous villa, which was designed to provide a relaxing space for young people supported by the hospice.
Access for Everyone
What made this donation even more remarkable was that several of the tickets were located in wheelchair-accessible areas. This thoughtful arrangement ensured that young people with mobility challenges could also enjoy the festival experience. Martin House is dedicated to creating special memories for children and families facing tough times, and this event was a perfect example of that mission in action.
Gratitude from Martin House
Nina Hoskin, the Family Support Pathway Coordinator at Martin House, expressed her gratitude for the donation, stating,
“We're incredibly grateful to Freddy at Sound & White for organising these free tickets. It was a really enjoyable evening, and all the families had a fantastic time.”
About Martin House Children's Hospice
Martin House has been providing essential care and support for children and young people with life-shortening conditions since 1987. Each year, the hospice assists over 550 children and their families across West, North, and East Yorkshire. The services offered include specialist planned short breaks, symptom management, emergency care, and bereavement support for families who have lost a loved one.
The hospice, located in Boston Spa, is equipped with various facilities, including a hydrotherapy pool and a well-being centre, aimed at enhancing the quality of care for the children. Importantly, there is no cost for families using the services, which rely heavily on voluntary donations and fundraising efforts to maintain operations. It costs around £13 million each year to provide this vital care.
