|Support is on the way for Bradford’s grassroots music scene, thanks to a new initiative from the Bradford Culture Company and Bradford District Music Strategy. This exciting programme aims to strengthen local music venues and promote live music events during Bradford Music Month, which will take place from 1 to 30 November 2026.
Funding Details
The Grassroots Music Venue and Promoter Support programme will offer up to £1,500 to five local grassroots music venues or collaborations between venues and promoters. The funding can be used to:
Book additional artists for performances
Scale up existing events
Improve accessibility for audiences
Grow new audiences for live music
This initiative is a part of the ongoing efforts to celebrate Bradford's vibrant music scene, support local artists, and ensure that everyone involved in live music is paid fairly for their work.
Background and Importance
Bradford has a rich musical heritage, and grassroots venues are crucial to its culture. These venues are where new talent emerges, audiences discover fresh artists, and communities come together.

As Caroline Hansell and Nanette Brimble from the Bradford District Music Strategy explained:
“As we prepare to launch the Bradford District Music Strategy later this year, this initiative reflects our commitment to supporting the people and places that make our music scene thrive.”
This programme builds on the momentum generated by Bradford's successful year as the UK City of Culture in 2025, which brought a wealth of events and opportunities to the city.
Jenny Harris, Director of Programme at Bradford Culture Company, highlighted the importance of continued investment in the local music scene:
“Grassroot venues are the bedrock of the where music talent emerges, audiences discover new artists, and communities come together.”
