|A generous donation of life-saving equipment has been made to Burton Constable’s Parkland, enhancing safety across its vast 330 acres. This important contribution comes from Humberside Search and Rescue (HUMBSAR) and HFR Solutions Community Interest Company, both of which are dedicated to improving emergency preparedness in the region.
New Equipment for Safety
Burton Constable Parkland has received a new defibrillator and five water rescue throw lines as part of this donation. The defibrillator, which can be vital in emergencies like cardiac arrest, will be kept in the Parkland team’s vehicle. This means that if someone needs help, the team can get to them quickly with this life-saving device. The five water rescue throw lines will also be crucial for safely responding to emergencies near water areas, providing staff with the tools they need to assist anyone in distress.

Alasdair Hutson, Chief Executive of the Burton Constable Foundation, expressed gratitude for the donation, stating, “We’re very grateful to HUMBSAR and HFR Solutions CiC for this generous donation. With 330 acres of Parkland to look after, having this equipment close at hand and able to be taken quickly wherever it may be needed is incredibly valuable.” This highlights how important it is for the park to be prepared for emergencies, ensuring the safety of visitors, staff, and volunteers alike.
Training and Preparedness
As part of the handover of the new equipment, practical training was provided to the Burton Constable team by Leigh Smith, Search Manager at HUMBSAR, and Gary O’Hara, an Instructor at HFR Solutions. This training ensures that the staff are not only equipped with the right tools but also the knowledge on how to use them effectively in case of an emergency. The training and equipment are part of a broader initiative to enhance safety measures at Burton Constable.

About Burton Constable Parkland
Burton Constable Hall is not just a historical site; it is a treasure trove of culture and nature. Established in the early 1990s, the Burton Constable Foundation works tirelessly to preserve this magnificent Elizabethan country house and its surrounding parkland. Visitors can explore over 30 beautifully preserved rooms and enjoy the stunning landscapes designed by Capability Brown, famous for his picturesque gardens. The parkland is also home to unique features like a 60-foot sperm whale skeleton, which draws many curious visitors each year. Operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, HUMBSAR works closely with local emergency services to locate and assist vulnerable missing individuals. Both organisations are committed to enhancing safety in the Humber region, demonstrating the power of community collaboration.
