Welcome to Yorkshire
The Yorkshire Wildlife Park has announced that this year’s Wild Live concerts will be the last. This popular summer concert series has delighted tens of thousands of visitors over the years, but rising costs and stricter regulations in the live events industry have forced the park to make this difficult decision.
Wild Live Concerts
The Wild Live concerts have become a cherished part of the summer calendar for many families and music lovers in Yorkshire. This year, the concerts are set to take place during the August Bank Holiday weekend, with an exciting line-up that includes well-known acts. On Saturday, 29th August, Scouting for Girls will headline the event, supported by popular entertainers such as Paddy McGuinness, The Hoosiers, Toploader, and Camens. On Sunday, 30th August, fans can enjoy a performance by Ocean Colour Scene, along with The Feeling, The Farm, and Stereo MC’s.
A Fond Farewell
John Minion, the CEO of Yorkshire Wildlife Park, expressed his feelings about the final Wild Live concerts:
“We’re looking forward to welcoming visitors for one final Wild Live concert weekend. It’ll be a fantastic celebration with great music, amazing animals, and a brilliant atmosphere.”
This sentiment reflects the park's commitment to creating memorable experiences for its visitors, and the Wild Live concerts have certainly played a significant role in that.
Challenges Ahead
Despite the joy the concerts have brought, the park faces challenges that have led to this decision. Minion explained, “The Wild Live series has become a much-loved part of our summer programme and created some fantastic memories for visitors over the years. We’re incredibly proud of what the concerts have achieved, but the costs of staging events have continued to rise.”
Several factors contribute to these rising costs, including:
Increased employment costs
Higher national insurance contributions
Additional security requirements
Rising supplier costs
More cautious consumer spending
All these pressures have made it difficult for the park to continue hosting the concerts, leading to the conclusion that this year will be the last.
What’s Next for the Park?
While the Wild Live concerts are coming to an end, the Yorkshire Wildlife Park continues to focus on its core mission of conservation and animal welfare. Visitors can still look forward to a unique experience as they walk through the park and come face to face with some of the world’s most beautiful and endangered species. These include Polar Bears, Black Rhinos, Giraffes, and African Painted Dogs, all of which play an essential role in global conservation efforts.
Visitor Experience
Attending the Wild Live concerts also includes a full-day entry to the park on the day of the concert, allowing visitors to enjoy all the attractions the park has to offer before the music begins. In addition to the concerts, the park features the Hex Wildlife Hotel and The Yorkshire Hive, which is a shopping, dining, and entertainment village that enhances the overall visitor experience.
