Welcome to Yorkshire
News • July 8th, 2026
|A new housing development, Clayton Manor, has officially opened in the historic suburb of Edgerton, Huddersfield. This exciting project by Jones Homes Yorkshire aims to blend modern living with the area's rich heritage, ensuring that the new homes fit seamlessly into the existing landscape. The development features 40 four and five-bedroom houses, designed with sustainability and local character in mind.
Clayton Manor Development
Located just off Queen’s Road, Clayton Manor has been thoughtfully planned to complement its surroundings within the Edgerton Conservation Area. This area is known for its beautiful architecture and historical significance, making it essential for the new homes to reflect this charm. The houses are set on a sloping site, which has been carefully landscaped to maintain the natural contours of the land. The homes are constructed using natural stone sourced from Bankfoot Quarry near Halifax, helping them to blend in with the traditional buildings in the area. Each home is equipped with modern amenities that focus on energy efficiency, including low-carbon air source heat pumps and underfloor heating, making them not only environmentally friendly but also cost-effective for their future owners.
Show Home Highlights
One of the standout features of Clayton Manor is the Clayton Knightsbridge show home, a unique four-bedroom, four-bathroom house designed to echo the style of neighbouring period homes.

Interior designer Lexi Stevenson from Lifestyle Interior Designs explained the vision behind the show home:
“Our brief was to create a classic, glamorous yet timeless scheme, that people could see themselves moving into straight away. It’s a lovely spacious house, with a large open plan kitchen/family area downstairs, and amazing high ceilings, as well as four great sized bedrooms upstairs. There’s a real feeling of space throughout.”
The interior design incorporates subtle touches, such as leaf-print wallpaper, to connect the indoors with the natural beauty outside, enhancing the overall aesthetic of the home.
Architectural Insights
The architectural design of Clayton Manor was led by Shayne Niemen from Niemen Blume. Niemen described the challenges posed by the site’s slope and the surrounding trees, but he also saw these as opportunities to create a more dynamic living environment. He stated, “The sloping nature of the site really adds three-dimensional character in a way that a more level site just doesn’t have, while the layout has been designed so that each plot has a level entrance and a level area to the rear so people can enjoy their gardens.” This careful consideration of the natural landscape allows residents to enjoy their outdoor spaces comfortably, with the added benefit of a split-level home that demonstrates Jones Homes' commitment to adapting designs to suit the site’s unique features.
Community and Pricing
The Clayton Manor development is now open to the public, with the first homes expected to be ready for new owners by summer 2026. The prices for these homes start from £649,995, making them an attractive option for families looking for spacious living in a desirable location. Jones Homes is known for its commitment to quality and design, having built a strong reputation since its establishment in 1959. With over 500 homes constructed each year across the UK, they continue to deliver beautiful homes in sought-after areas.
