This cottage is located in the tranquil village of Gamblesby which has a large central village green surrounded by 18th and 19th-century red sandstone buildings and it is just 15 miles from Ullswater. This is a great base to enjoy a boat trip or visit the waterfalls at Aira Force. The Yorkshire Dales National Park and the heritage site of Hadrian s Wall are both less than 30 miles away. The local area has some excellent walks plus numerous cycle routes. The Coast-to-Coast route runs within a few miles of the village. Penrith (10 miles) has lots of interesting local shops independent restaurants and pubs. Long Meg and her Daughters (a Neolithic stone circle) is 4 miles away as well as numerous historic sites and castles. Train enthusiasts must visit the narrow-gauge South Tynedale Railway and the Settle to Carlisle railway line less than 6 miles away.
