In summer a ferry runs across the estuary to the pretty fishing village of Appledore where numerous pleasure craft offer scenic boat trips. The town of Bideford is just four miles down-river from Instow offering a range of shops and eateries and for those who are feeling energetic it is possible to enjoy a riverside walk to Bideford directly from the property.
