|Harewood House Trust is gearing up for a big celebration this October as it marks a remarkable 40 years since its establishment. To honour this milestone, the Trust is inviting everyone to join in the festivities from 16th to 18th October 2026, where visitors can explore the rich history of Harewood House while enjoying some exciting activities and experiences.
Special Anniversary Weekend
The anniversary weekend promises to be a memorable occasion, packed with events that reflect on the Trust's journey over four decades. Visitors will have the chance to look back on some of the most notable exhibitions and events that have taken place at Harewood, as well as learn about future plans for the estate. As a special treat, 400 tickets will be available at prices reminiscent of 1986, the year the Trust was founded. This means that adults can enjoy entry for just £3.50, while children can enter for only £1.50. Bookings for these tickets will open on 14th September, so it's wise to mark that date on the calendar to secure a spot.

David Lascelles © Harewood House Trust The anniversary weekend will feature a variety of activities that cater to all ages and interests. Here are some highlights:
In Conversation with David Lascelles: On 16th October, visitors can join David Lascelles, the 8th Earl of Harewood, as he discusses his newly released book, "Out of Colditz." The book explores a fascinating story from World War II, shedding light on his family's history. This event will be priced at £15 per person.
Memories and Reflections from Harewood's Last Butler: On 17th and 18th October, attendees can take part in a special tour led by Molly Kelly, who has spent more than 36 years at Harewood House. Molly will share her experiences and insights about the house and its collections, offering a unique perspective on its history. This tour is also priced at £15 per person.
A Garden’s Journey: Looking Back, Growing Forward: Also on 17th and 18th October, award-winning Head Gardener Trevor Nicholson will lead a guided walk through Harewood’s beautiful gardens. With over 30 years of experience, Trevor will share stories of the garden's evolution and future plans, making it a must-attend for gardening enthusiasts. This event will also cost £15 per person.
Princess Mary’s Owls Display: Visitors on 17th and 18th October can view a special display of Princess Mary’s treasured owl collection, which includes intricately crafted pieces from renowned jewellers like Fabergé and Cartier. This display will be included in the price of admission.
Time Capsule Creations: Families are invited to create their own time capsules at the Servants' Hall, allowing them to preserve memories for future generations. This activity is included in membership and day tickets.

New developments
Harewood House Trust has ambitious plans for the future.
