<p><strong>Personal Assistant – Supporting Young Disabled People to Live Independently</strong></p> <p><strong>Location: </strong>Harrogate</p> <p><strong>Salary:</strong> £13.03 per hour</p> <p><strong>Vacancy Type: </strong>Flexible hours</p> <p>Are you friendly, reliable and passionate about helping young disabled people build confidence, independence and choice in everyday life? We are looking for a thoughtful and practical Personal Assistant to provide support with daily living activities, social opportunities and household routines.</p> <p><strong>About the role</strong></p> <p>This is a rewarding role supporting younger disabled people to live more independently and take part in the activities that matter to them. You will offer practical, respectful and person-centred support in daily life, helping each person develop skills, make choices and access their local community.</p> <p><strong>What you’ll be doing</strong></p> <ul> <li>Supporting with cooking, meal planning and preparing simple, healthy meals.</li><li>Helping with shopping, budgeting and organising everyday essentials.</li><li>Assisting with household management, domestic chores, cleaning, laundry and keeping living spaces safe and comfortable.</li><li>Encouraging independence by supporting people to learn and practise daily living skills at their own pace.</li><li>Supporting access to social, leisure and community activities, such as clubs, appointments, cafés, local groups or days out.</li><li>Providing friendly companionship, encouragement and practical support while respecting each person’s choices, privacy and dignity.</li></ul> <p><strong>Please note: this role does not involve personal care.</strong></p> <p><strong>About you</strong></p> <p>You do not need to have formal care experience to be a great fit. What matters most is that you are patient, dependable, positive and able to support people in a way that promotes independence rather than taking over.</p> <ul> <li>A warm, respectful and encouraging approach.</li><li>Good communication and listening skills.</li><li>Reliability, honesty and good timekeeping.</li><li>Confidence supporting people in the home and community.</li><li>A practical, organised approach to everyday tasks.</li><li>Willingness to follow guidance and work in a person-centred way.</li><li>An understanding of the importance of independence, choice and dignity.</li></ul> <p><strong>Hours and flexibility</strong></p> <p>Flexible working hours are available and can be discussed to suit both the needs of the people being supported and the availability of the successful applicant.
