Halfords Autocentre Harrogate (Bower Road)

Mick, Tahir and the fellas at bower Road have been so helpful with completing my MOT. I had mick do mine last year at the other harogatebsutocentre and he saved my skin with problems that another garage hadn't noticed at a prior MOT I had done. They're very friendly and always explain things in a really clear way. Highly recommend. Very pleased.

The team have always been courteous and pleasant. They explain whatever work needs doing and are patient with questions. I can't speak to the relative quality of work, but the car always works after they've worked their magic.

No complaints, had an interim service before selling my car. All works done quickly and recommendations made without any pressure. Reasonably priced when shopping around other garages in the area

This wasn't the best experience unfortunately. I booked my car in for an MOT and full service pre paid. I was told of multiple issues with the car needing fixing to ensure a pass. The initial quote was around £300, which I was then told on the phone had gone up to £811, then after pressing for more information as to why, it went down to £488. After waiting over the weekend for the handbrake cables to be replaced I went to collect my car on the Monday, only to be greeted with a £560 bill. Having not been told where this extra £80 had come from I was quite concerned and annoyed at the lack of transparency and trust I had received from this garage. The whole thing was a bit of a mess in all honesty, no one in particular to blame, the staff were very polite and nice, just lacking information and any clue of what was actually going on. The other theory is they knew exactly what was going on and it was all planned, I choose not to believe that as I would like to have a little faith that garages are more honest these days.

Excellent service from Halfords Autocentre Harrogate. I called with a battery issue close to closing time, and the team still took the time to help. They responded very quickly, were friendly and professional throughout, and managed to replace the battery at a reasonable cost. It’s great to find a garage that genuinely cares about its customers and goes the extra mile. Highly recommended – thank you to the whole team!
