In a heartwarming initiative, Stagecoach Yorkshire is rallying support for cancer patients through a unique fundraising effort in Sheffield. On Thursday, 24th September 2026, two dedicated bus drivers, Billy Ingersoll and Yeuk Hei Ko, will tackle the 'Inner Circle' Route 10 in a sponsored run, aiming to raise at least £500 for Macmillan Cancer Support. This event follows a coffee morning set to take place at the Holbrook Depot, located on Rother Valley Way, where the community is invited to gather and contribute to this worthy cause.

Fundraising Challenge by Local Drivers

The sponsored run will kick off at 9:30 am from the Manor Top Interchange, with both drivers hoping to inspire their colleagues and the local community to get involved. The aim is to not only reach the fundraising target but also to raise awareness about the vital services offered by Macmillan Cancer Support, which helps those affected by cancer at every stage of their journey.

What is Macmillan Cancer Support?

Macmillan Cancer Support plays a crucial role in providing assistance to individuals and families coping with cancer. Their services include:

  • Macmillan Support Line: A confidential helpline offering emotional support and guidance.

  • Cancer Nurses: Professionals who provide specialised care and information.

  • Information and Support Advisers: Experts who help patients navigate their cancer journey.

  • Interpreter Service: Ensuring that language barriers do not hinder access to support.

  • Macmillan Buddies: A service that connects individuals with trained volunteers for regular calls, providing companionship and support.

A Community Effort

Shayne Howarth, the Duty Manager at Holbrook Depot, expressed the importance of this charity effort, stating:

“This charity is very close to the hearts of a lot of people at the depot, so I hope that everyone will want to get behind this effort. At Stagecoach, our team have a wonderful history of putting in the effort to support charities that are important to our customers. I am proud to see the depot continuing that tradition.”

The coffee morning, which will precede the run, is another opportunity for the community to come together and contribute. Attendees can enjoy refreshments while learning more about the services provided by Macmillan and how they can support those in need.

How to Support the Cause

Supporting Billy and Yeuk in their running challenge is easy. Contributions can be made through their JustGiving page, which has been set up to facilitate donations. The link to support their efforts is here. Every donation, big or small, will make a difference and go directly to helping those affected by cancer.
