Northern College

In my life I've experienced all kinds of issues with my mental health, addiction, social isolation aswell as legal matters but at Northern College I felt so welcome and supported and i made friends and this may sound strange but for the first time in years I got a sense of belonging and direction in life and rediscovered myself. I stayed there residentialy the accommodation is basic but comfortable. I've just completed my level 1 peer mentor qualification and I will be undertaking further education at Northern college , paul our tutor was awesome he delivered the course in such a relaxed, well organised way that that I felt like I wasn't overwhelmed but learned a great deal of knowledge. It's the most none judgemental, supportive and welcoming college I've ever known I strongly recommend you give it a chance if you're thinking of learning something new.

Situated in open countryside, Northern College is a wonderful place to be and to learn. The building itself is old and has beautiful features and there are extensive gardens to explore.

I love to come and study at Northern College. It’s such beautiful setting, courses here are very interesting and stimulating. The tutors here are all very knowledgeable, they are super friendly and supportive. They makes all of us feel we are our own individual and being respected. The support staff are very kind, nothing is too much for them to help with. The food at the canteen is very yummy too.

Absolutelty cannot say enough about this Wentworth Castle and Northern College itself. The building atmosphere is one of the best i have ever got to study in and the people who go here care. I found myself in a very welcoming group who supported each other no matter their age, diffrences, work style or qualitys. I have just finished my Level 3 Access to HE Diploma and cannot say enough but congradulate those who helped me get to where i am and get the place i the University i wanted to go to. The grounds, if you need to unwind from the stress of essay writing, are available and beautiful they is so much history here which i also found my self down the rabbit hole with. The teachers/ tutors are really understanding and helpful and teach outstanding levels of education especially Beth, Nick, Claire and Donna. The recpetion staff are also fully aware of the college's fucntionality and events and can always point you in the right direction when needed. Rachel who manages the libary is very resourceful and always will meet you with a smile on her face, happy to help with any point of your studies. The only thing i would say is they need more option on the lunch menu. If you are looking to do an Access to HE Diploma, i would highly recommend Northern College because of their welcoming, clam and respectful environment but also because of the people you will meet and how supportive the tutors are.

Absolutely love this place. For anyone thinking of going back to college I would highly recommend going there. I’m 56yrs old and have passed Digital Functional Skills (entry level 3), Level 2 English and done a 2 day creative writing course. I’m now getting ready to do Level 1 Digital Skills.
