Boots Opticians Team Raises £4,500 for Macmillan Cancer Support in Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge

A team of ten from Boots Opticians' North-West division has accomplished an impressive feat by raising £4,500 for Macmillan Cancer Support through their participation in the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge. This challenge is well-known for its demanding nature, as it requires climbers to conquer three significant peaks in a single day.

The Challenge

On a bright morning, the team set off at 7:30 AM, ready to tackle the iconic peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough. The total elevation gain of the hike was a staggering 5,200 feet, which is about 1,585 metres. The group managed to complete this ambitious hike in just 11 hours, despite facing a heatwave and challenging terrain.

Many of the participants were first-time hikers, and they quickly realised that they had taken on a serious challenge. The steep inclines and rough paths tested their endurance, but their determination to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support kept them motivated throughout the day.
