This summer, visitors to Brodsworth Hall and Gardens, located near Doncaster, are in for a treat with a variety of exciting events lined up from 18 July to 6 September 2026. Dubbed the Great British Summer, this programme celebrates the cherished traditions of British holidays and pastimes that many hold dear. English Heritage is hosting a packed schedule of activities designed to entertain families and visitors of all ages.
Summer Fun at Brodsworth Hall
The Great British Summer at Brodsworth Hall is all about experiencing the joy of classic British summer activities. From ice creams to fairground games, the events promise to evoke memories of sunny days spent enjoying the outdoors. Visitors can look forward to:
Seaside Delights: Enjoy ice creams and classic fairground games.
Circus Skills: Try your hand at juggling and other circus acts.
Puppet Shows: Delight in entertaining performances suitable for all ages.
Sports Day: Participate in traditional games and activities.
A special highlight for children is the opportunity to collect limited-edition postcards designed by well-known illustrators like Nick Sharratt and Sir Quentin Blake. Kids can also grab a souvenir passport to collect stamps as they complete their summer adventure.
Sunday Music Afternoons
Sunday Music series features performances from some of Yorkshire’s finest bands, making it a perfect occasion for families to relax. Guests are encouraged to bring along deck chairs to sit back and soak in the atmosphere while enjoying the music against the stunning backdrop of the historic hall.
Special Offers for Members
For those who are members of English Heritage, there are some fantastic perks available this summer. Any member who spends £10 or more in an English Heritage café during July and August will receive a free children’s lunch bag. This lunch bag includes a drink, a sandwich, crisps, fruit, and cake, providing a perfect picnic option for families enjoying a day out.
Additionally, from 1 July to 31 August 2026, English Heritage is offering a 25% discount on annual memberships. Using the code EHSUM26, families can purchase a membership for just £63, which allows one adult and up to six children unlimited access to over 400 English Heritage sites across the country. This includes famous locations like Stonehenge, Dover Castle, and Hadrian’s Wall.
VAT Reduction on Family Days Out
To further celebrate the Great British Summer, visitors can benefit from a significant reduction in VAT on family days out, which has been cut from 20% to just 5% until 1 September 2026. This means that families can save up to £17.50 with a joint ticket, making it more affordable to enjoy a day filled with fun and historical exploration.
About Brodsworth Hall
Brodsworth Hall is a stunning example of Victorian architecture and was created by Charles Sabine Thellusson, who inherited the estate in 1858. Over the next decade, he transformed the 8,000-acre estate into a lavish country home. However, after the Second World War, the family faced financial difficulties, and the house fell into disrepair. Today, it is preserved by English Heritage, allowing visitors to step back in time and experience the grandeur of the Victorian era.
