Known as the "Oscars of the food world," the Great Taste Awards are the largest and most trusted food and drink accreditation scheme globally, run by the Guild of Fine Food. This annual event evaluates artisan products based on their flavour, texture, and aroma through blind taste testing.
A Sweet Success for Wicstun Distillery
Founded five years ago, Wicstun Distillery has quickly made a name for itself by producing a wide range of spirits, including gins, rums, vodkas, and liqueurs. The distillery launched its liqueur range in response to customer demand for sweeter, lower-alcohol beverages. Their offerings now include Toffee, Rhubarb, and Raspberry Vodka Liqueurs, with the Toffee Vodka emerging as a standout favourite.
Judges' Praise for the Toffee Vodka
The judges at the Great Taste Awards were notably impressed with the Toffee Vodka, describing it as having an “undeniably toffee on the nose and a creamy, indulgent fudge on the palate.” They highlighted the liqueur’s well-balanced sweetness paired with a grounding bitterness that leads to a satisfyingly long finish.

Jago Packer, the owner of Wicstun Distillery, expressed his delight upon receiving the award, stating he was “over the moon” and emphasising the joy the team feels when customers try their Toffee Vodka Liqueur. According to Barbara Pace, the distillery manager, the Toffee Vodka has been their best seller for the past 18 months. Customers appreciate its versatility, using it in cocktails or simply enjoying it over ice cream. This popularity has undoubtedly contributed to the distillery’s growth and recognition in the local community and beyond.
