By the fabric designer, about this collection; All of my collections are inspired, one way or another, by my painting style. Occasionally, I will use just small elements; other times I include whole sections. I have recently joined up with my life-long friend, Rebecca De Mendonca, to form the The New Pastel School to teach five pastel painting courses a year. As well as seeking to inspire others to use pastels, we have both found that teaching and watching one another paint to be very inspirational. Sketch Book is a collection that explores this period of learning ? I ?m looking at my art with fresh eyes! From sketch books to the simple beauty and importance of the line, both in patterns and art, I find myself looking at the world in a different and exciting way. All the things I think about while painting, I now think about when designing collections and quilts. It's like having another palette of tricks to play with!
