El Dorado 8 Year Old Rum, Guyana

The county of Demerara in Guyana has been renowned for its history of sugar and rum production since the 17th century. Combining tradition with technology, Demerara Distillers now operates as the last remaining distillery in Guyana at Plantation Diamond on the east bank of the Demerara River. The winner of the 2013 International Wine & Spirit Competition, this rum was matured in oak barrels for eight years, producing a smooth and characterful blend. Light to medium-bodied, with hints of tobacco, toffee, dried stone fruits, and cooked banana on the nose. Distinctly smooth, soft, and faintly sweet, with oak and butterscotch on the palate. Perfect for sipping or for use in craft cocktails.
