Sorbus intermedia 'Brouwers'

This robust and versatile tree copes well in tricky sites such as coastal locations, pollution, wind and shallow chalk. Sorbus intermedia ?Brouwers? forms ascending branches that create a pyramidal tree, with a crown of deep green, lobed foliage with hairy undersides that create a shimmering effect in the breeze. Clusters of cream-white, fragrant blooms emerge in late spring which will be a magnet for pollinating insects. Small, fiery-red berries will follow the flowers and remain on the tree into autumn, when the foliage will transform to brown and orange. Sorbus intermedia ?Brouwers? makes a wonderful stand alone specimen and also works well in avenue plantings or coastal gardens. Height: 10-15m (32-50ft). Spread: 4-8m (13-26ft).
