Product Description

Bring Nature to Your Garden with Harrowden Birds and Bees Meadowmat 10sqm. Imagine transforming your garden into a haven of natural beauty and wildlife. A mix of 41 native British wildflowers and 4 grasses that attract a variety of wildlife, making your garden a vibrant, buzzing paradise. You can expect a long flowering period, it provides pollen and nectar for bees, butterflies, hoverflies, and moths from spring through autumn. Vital for the life cycles of butterflies and moths. Autumn Seed Heads: Offer food for birds, plus a ready supply of insects and larvae. For your garden visitors, there's an ever-changing display of colourful flowers and gently swaying grasses, along with the joy of watching wildlife in action. Most species will return year after year. Annual and Bi-annual Flowers: Some may not appear every year. Flowering Time: March to September (depending on weather). Pre-Mown for Protection: Plants are trimmed before dispatch to prevent damage. Easy Installation You can install Birds and Bees anytime, but for flowers in the first summer, it’s best to do it before the end of March. Birds and Bees Meadowmat is more reliable than sowing seeds and easier than plug planting. Just lay it like lawn turf, but maintain it as a wildflower meadow. It can grow unchequeed from spring through autumn-no mowing, feeding, or pest control is needed. Mother Nature handles it all. In late winter or after birds have eaten all the seed heads, cut it back to 10cm, shake out any seeds, and remove the clippings. If plants fall over during a wet summer, just trim them to tidy up. Growing Tips Birds and Bees thrive in full sun and moist, well-drained, low-fertility soil. It’s happy on level ground or slopes and can tolerate most pH levels. For the best results, install it on Low Fertility Soil to keep the balance of grasses and flowers just right. Coverage Each slab measures 500mm (19.6") wide by 1000mm (39.2") long, and two slabs cover 1m². It includes 10% Native Grasses and 90% Native Wildflowers Percentages refer to the seed weight in the mix and may not reflect the mature plant proportions.
