Zephyranthes candida (Marginal Aquatic)

This crocus-like bulb remains quietly dormant until late summer, when it bursts into unexpected bloom. From July to September, delicate star-shaped white flowers with vivid yellow stamens rise above slender, grass-like foliage. Plant Zephyranthes candida among aquatic plants at the shallow edges of a pond or in consistently moist soil to create a surprise display of late-season colour. Water depth: 0 to 4cm. Ultimate height: 20cm (8in). Ultimate spread: 10cm (4in).
