Distylium 'Linebacker'

A trouble-free evergreen shrub that is still not widely known, Distylium 'Linebacker' makes a superb alternative to other evergreens that are more vulnerable to pests and disease, such as box and cherry laurel. It is valued for its dark green, leathery, glossy foliage that is bronze-red when young. In late winter/early spring, it produces racemes of tiny dark red flowers. The tallest variety available, its dense, columnar growth makes it particularly useful for privacy hedging. Ultimate height: 3m (9.8ft). Ultimate spread: 2.5m (8.2ft).
