These two short stories are the product of James rewriting of two previous works. The Man with Hands for Hands. Originally a poem inspired by the wonderful puppets of Samuel Wilde. It has now been rewritten as a short story. Set in a land where everyone has objects instead of hands. Whilst exploring they find themselves being watched by someone who has actual hands for hands. How they first respond sets them on a path that changes their entire society. This book includes the original draft poem, complete with errors, that was part of a staged show. The Secret of the Stones. Just before the turn of the millennium a young father is greeted by an ancient fairy who needs help. It is a story that gives an alternative reason for the sudden emergence of engraved stones in the year 2000.
