The vast oil fields of Texas between Abilene and Fort Stockton are referred to by many as "The Big Country." The towns, big and small, as different as they may be, they all share two things in common......oil and cattle. The windblown hills of the Big Country can be deserthot in the summer or bittercold in the winter. The harsh, unforgiving landscape there creates tough people who are tied closely to the land. People who work hard, play hard, and love hard. This is the story about two such people who meet by sheer chance on a late Sunday afternoon at a truck stop in a small town.
