Typically a rectifier is fed AC power generated from the stator coils of the generator (alternator) and converts it to DC power whilst, at the same time, limiting the voltage to a maximum of about 14.5 volts.Signs that your regulator needs replacing:Depending on the location of the regulator rectifier, the part can easily overheat. Other causes for a dead regulator rectifier center on the battery. Ground connections are important for good voltage, and if there is a faulty voltage, the regulator rectifier can run hot.
