Yorkshire Riders Prepare for FIM Trial World Championship Finale in Spain

Welcome to Yorkshire

Published on September 17th, 2026

Yorkshire motorcycle trials riders George Hemingway, Harry Hemingway and Jack Peace are preparing for the final round of the 2026 Hertz FIM Trial World Championship, with major championship positions still at stake in Spain.

The TrialGP of Spain takes place at Pobladura de las Regueras from 18-20 September, bringing the seven-round world championship season to a close. While Toni Bou has already secured the premier TrialGP title, the Trial2 championship remains undecided heading into the final weekend.

For Yorkshire followers, much of the attention will be on Leeds rider George Hemingway, who heads to Spain sitting second in the Trial2 standings and still firmly involved in the battle for the world title. His older brother Harry Hemingway and North Yorkshire's Jack Peace will meanwhile contest the season finale in the elite TrialGP class.

George Hemingway in Trial2 title fight

George Hemingway arrives in Spain with everything still to play for after a superb performance at the previous round in Zelhem, Netherlands.

The Beta rider claimed his first day victory of the season on the Sunday, producing a faultless second race as he moved ahead of Spain's Alex Canales into second place in the Trial2 championship.

Spanish rider Arnau Farré leads the standings by 13 points going into the final two days of competition, while Canales is only five points behind Hemingway in third.

It sets up a potentially dramatic conclusion to a highly competitive Trial2 season which has produced seven different day winners from the first 11 races.

Hemingway, from Leeds, has already built an impressive record in the sport. He was previously crowned FIM Trial3 World Champion and Junior European Champion and won the Trial2 British title, while his performances earned him the prestigious Pinhard Trophy for 2025.

Harry Hemingway and Jack Peace in TrialGP

Yorkshire will also have representation at the highest level of the championship through Harry Hemingway and Jack Peace.

Silsden's Harry Hemingway is completing his first season in the TrialGP class and currently sits sixth in the championship. He leads fellow Yorkshire rider Jack Peace by 12 points heading into the final round.

Harry is part of a family with deep roots in Yorkshire motorcycle trials and has already collected major honours of his own, including the Trial3 world title in 2022 and the British TrialGB Championship in 2024.

Jack Peace, meanwhile, hails from North Yorkshire and entered 2026 as the reigning TrialGB British Champion. The Sherco rider also won the Scottish Six Day Trial in 2025 and finished fifth in the TrialGP World Championship that season.

The pair have been regular rivals on the domestic Yorkshire trials scene as well as on the world stage, with Harry, George and Peace all competing at the Yorkshire Urban Trial at Otley Showground earlier this year.

Yorkshire talent on the world stage

The Hemingway brothers and Peace form part of a particularly strong generation of Yorkshire trials riders competing at national and international level.

Harry and George currently occupy the top two positions in the 2026 TrialGB standings, while Peace is also among the leading riders in Britain's premier domestic class.

Another rider with Yorkshire connections, Harison Skelton, has already enjoyed world championship success this season. The 18-year-old Scorpa rider secured the 2026 Trial3 Junior world title at the previous round in the Netherlands. However, the Trial3 Junior class follows a shorter calendar and will not compete at the Spanish finale.

When is the TrialGP of Spain?

The final weekend begins on Friday 18 September with official practice and section inspection from 11.30am local time. The Super Test begins at 5.30pm, followed by the Riders' Parade and autograph session.

Points-scoring competition gets underway from 9am local time on Saturday 19 September, with the championship concluding over the weekend at Pobladura de las Regueras.

For Yorkshire fans, the Trial2 contest promises particular interest as George Hemingway attempts to finish an impressive international season by challenging for one of motorcycle trials' major world titles.
