Learn how to surf at Scarborough’s only ‘Surfing England - Centre of Excellence’ located roughly 20 feet from Scarborough’s North Bay, a great little beach break, that is perfect for learners.

Opened in 2011, Dexter’s has always been the go-to surf shop for beginners and families. All surf lessons are provided by friendly and professional SLSGB Surf Rescue (Lifeguard) ISA surf instructors who are all first-aid trained and have an outstanding safety record. There is also RNLI Lifeguards patrolling the bay May-September.

Dexter’s provides private and group surf lessons catering for all ages, sizes and abilities, all year round. Being the biggest surf shop in the area and owning huge stock of hire kit, the school can handle large groups easily, and offer fun-packed adventure days such as Stag and Hen parties, Corporate Events and University Surf Clubs!

As well as surf lessons, Dexter’s also has a great selection of hire kit, you can rent surfboards, wetsuits, stand up paddleboards and kayaks, so there is something for everyone, whatever the weather and surfing conditions.

On site facilities include secure storage for valuables, Indoor changing facilities and access to a hot shower after your surf. There is also a small cafe next door where you can get your energy back over some fish and chips and a great cup of coffee!

Parking is never a problem on North bay, there are literally hundreds of pay and display parking spaces around the maring drive within 10-15 mins walking distance, and Free ‘timed disc’ zone parking areas.
