National Racehorse Week is back, running from the 22nd to the 31st of August 2026, and it promises to be an exciting event for everyone, whether they are horse lovers or just looking for something fun to do during the school holidays. This year, over 17,000 free places are available across more than 111 events nationwide, allowing families to explore the fascinating world of racehorses in a way that is both engaging and educational.

What Is National Racehorse Week?

National Racehorse Week is a celebration of Thoroughbred racehorses, giving the public rare access to racing yards, training centres, and retraining facilities. This initiative is designed to show how much care and dedication goes into looking after these magnificent animals. Since its inception in 2021, the event has grown significantly, with over 65,000 free places offered to the public so far. This year marks its sixth anniversary, making it a well-established part of the summer calendar.
