<strong>Assistant Quantity Surveyor</strong> <p><strong>Wakefield | Office & Site Based</strong><strong>£33,000 - £40,000 + Benefits + Outstanding Career Development</strong></p> <strong>Join a Growing Specialist Retail Construction Business</strong> <p>An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious <strong>Assistant Quantity Surveyor</strong> to join a rapidly expanding business delivering major food retail fit-out and refurbishment projects across the UK.</p> <p>Working alongside an experienced commercial leadership team with a strong <strong> Tier 1 contractor background</strong>, this role offers exceptional mentoring, training and clear progression opportunities for someone looking to build a long-term career within a growing organisation.</p> <p>This is an ideal opportunity for a recent graduate with some post-graduate experience or an individual with around three years' experience in a Quantity Surveying or commercial environment who wants exposure to major retail projects and increased responsibility.</p> <strong>About the Business</strong> <p>The company delivers specialist fit-out, refurbishment and M&E projects for major high street and food retail clients.</p> <p>Projects typically involve:</p> <ul> <li>Retail fit-outs and refurbishments</li><li>Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) works</li><li>HVAC installations</li><li>Refrigeration systems</li><li>Food retail environments</li></ul> <p>With significant growth plans and a strong pipeline of secured work, there has never been a better time to join the business.</p> <strong>The Role</strong> <p>Supporting the Commercial and Project Delivery teams, you will be involved in the full project lifecycle from pricing and tendering through to project completion and commercial reporting.</p> <strong>Key Responsibilities</strong> <ul> <li>Calculate and prepare detailed quotations.</li><li>Liaise closely with clients to understand project requirements and develop commercially competitive quotations.</li><li>Manage commercial reporting, including Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs).</li><li>Assist with project management activities following contract award.</li><li>Monitor project performance to ensure delivery on time and within budget.</li><li>Coordinate job receipting and invoicing processes.</li><li>Raise and manage purchase orders.</li><li>Liaise with suppliers regarding materials, equipment availability and delivery schedules.</li><li>Maintain internal project trackers and reporting systems.</li><li>Support the commercial team with cost control and project financial management.</li><li>Develop relationships with clients, suppliers and subcontractors.</li></ul> <strong>What We're Looking For</strong><strong>Essential</strong> <ul> <li>Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline, or equivalent qualification.</li><li>Approximately 1 year of post-graduate experience, or</li><li>Around 3 years' experience working within a Quantity Surveying or commercial environment.</li><li>Strong communication and organisational skills.</li><li>Good commercial awareness and attention to detail.</li><li>Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.</li></ul> <strong>Desirable</strong> <ul> <li>Experience within retail fit-out, refurbishment or construction projects.</li><li>Exposure to M&E projects.</li><li>Knowledge of HVAC and refrigeration installations.</li><li>Experience working with major high street or food retailers.</li><li>Understanding of commercial reporting and CVRs.</li></ul> <strong>Salary & Benefits</strong> <ul> <li>Salary: <strong>£33,000 - £40,000</strong> depending on experience.</li><li>Some flexibility available for exceptional candidates.</li><li>Car allowance included within package.</li><li>25 days annual leave plus Bank and Public Holidays.</li><li>Days in Lieu scheme.</li><li>Company shutdown between Christmas and New Year (employees will reserve part of annual leave entitlement for this period).</li><li>Private healthcare following successful completion of probation.</li><li>Growing business with genuine opportunities for progression.</li></ul> <strong>Working Hours</strong> <ul> <li>Monday to Friday</li><li>08:00am - 4:00pm</li><li>30-minute unpaid lunch break</li></ul> <strong>Apply Today</strong> <p>If you're looking to accelerate your commercial career within a growing specialist contractor delivering projects for some of the UK's best-known retail brands, we'd love to hear from you.</p> <p><strong>Apply now with your CV to be considered for this exciting opportunity.</strong></p>
