Pavers Foundation Donates £18,000 to Charities Across the UK and Ireland

Pavers, a well-known shoe retailer, has recently announced the impressive donation of £18,000 to various charities and organisations across the UK and Ireland. This generous contribution comes from customers who participated in the Pavers Foundation Customer Causes initiative. By nominating local charities they care about, customers have helped make a significant difference in their communities.

Pavers Foundation's Commitment

The Pavers Foundation has been dedicated to supporting charities since its establishment in 2018. Initially, donations were made based on nominations from Pavers employees and the Paver family. However, in 2025, the Customer Causes initiative was launched, allowing customers to directly nominate good causes that are making a positive impact in their local areas. To date, the Pavers Foundation has awarded over £2.5 million to various organisations, highlighting its ongoing commitment to community support.

How It Works

As part of the Customer Causes initiative, customers were invited to fill out a short nomination form at their nearest Pavers store. Each store selected one cause to submit to the Foundation Committee. This committee then held a vote to determine which charities would receive funding, with the top 18 chosen to benefit from the donations. Each of these selected organisations received £1,000, allowing them to continue their important work.

Charities Supported

The £18,000 donation has been distributed among a diverse range of charities, each making a notable impact within their communities. Here are just a few of the causes that were nominated by Pavers customers:

North East & Yorkshire

• Survive (York): Nominated by Sarah Wilkins, who said, “I am a counsellor at the charity and we provide trauma therapy to clients in and around York who for some is life saving.”
• Silverline Memories (North Shields): Pat Pringle highlighted their work with dementia sufferers, stating, “They formed a dementia choir who perform three times a year. Silverline has no age barrier and enhances people’s lives.”
• St John’s Hospice (Doncaster): Tracey Gaughan noted, “This hospice like so many others, care for local people and make a real difference to everyone they care for. They are the only provider of specialist palliative care in Doncaster.”
• Tyneside Community Store CIC (Newcastle): Joanne Watkin mentioned, “This community store provides a vital role in supporting families across Tyneside by providing essential items like nappies, formula, school uniforms & safety equipment.”

North West

• Newbridge Learning Community (St Helens): Rebecca Lee spoke about their efforts to create a sensory space in a local school, saying, “It’s in memory of an inspirational role model who worked at the school.”
• Port Men in Sheds (Burleydam): Nominated by Paul Heeney, this organisation combats loneliness and mental illness among retired and unemployed men.

Midlands

• Violet Project (Shipley): Margaret Clark shared that this suicide prevention charity works tirelessly to help others recognise when support is needed.
• Shine Charity (Belper): Angela Cole highlighted their role in providing advice and support for those affected by hydrocephalus.
• Hereford Hub Café (Hereford): Angela Millar noted that this café is a welcoming space for the local community and emergency services.

East of England

• Music Man Project Southend (Braintree): Mary Walpole expressed excitement about their fundraising efforts to take adults with learning disabilities to Broadway.
• 1st Taverham Scout Group (Taverham): Julie Edmunds mentioned that this scout group has been building confidence and life skills in young people for over 60 years.
• Magpas Air Ambulance (Huntingdon): Emma Sanders noted that this charity has saved over 70,000 lives since its inception in 1971.

Wales

• Ysgol y Deri SEN School (Cardiff): Suzi Thomas described how this school supports 500 disabled and special needs children, providing essential education and life skills.

Scotland & Ireland
