Cuckstool Cottage is located in the bustling village of Denby Dale, made famous by its giant pie-making traditions spanning two centuries. You can check out the history of the Denby dale Pies in the ‘Pie Hall’ in the village. This is a comfortable and well equipped cottage which is gas centrally heated and has free wifi for your convenience. Accommodation is for up to 6 people and we also have a travel cot and high chair available. Well-equipped dining kitchen with oven, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine, fridge-freezer. Large lounge with impressive stone fireplace and electric stove. Three bedrooms: One double, one with triple bunk (full double and single) and a single room. Family bathroom with bath and shower over on the first floor. Parking. Small enclosed garden with BBQ and patio furniture. The cottage has a wonderful outlook over the village cricket field and bowling green, so you can while –a-way an hour or two drinking a glass of wine in the garden and watching the local matches.
This is in a great location with many things to do within close proximity. Denby Dale itself in steeped in pie-making history, and is well known for its range of specialist shops in the village and local eateries. The village has an abundance of amenities.
Cannon Hall Open Farm and Adventure Playground is 15 minutes by car, as it Pugney’s country park and watersports centre and the National Coal Mining Museum. Golf, a public swimming pool and Kirklees Light railway are about 5 minutes drive away. Holmfirth, of ‘Last of the Summer Wine’ fame is around 10 minutes by car.
The cottage is well placed for walking and is a ramblers’ and dog lovers’ paradise, with walks straight from the door and many local way-marked walks in close proximity.
The towns of Wakefield, Huddersfield and Barnsley are all around 20 minutes drive away. Further afield you could take a trip to Meadowhall, Sheffield, one of Yorkshire’s top retail outlets, visit Leeds or Halifax, Haworth to explore Bronte Country or visit York with its famous Roman walls, Yorvik Centre, Shambles, Minster and Railway Museum among others.
Denby Dale is served by excellent public transport links. It has its own railway station on the Penistone Line.
