Aysgarth Falls Tourist Information Centre

The Aysgarth Falls National Park Centre can point you in the direction of the three impressive falls at Aysgarth Falls, as well as giving you maps and guides to the various routes on which they may be enjoyed.

Description

Perfectly situated to visit the superb waterfalls on the River Ure, the National Park Centre can also point you in the direction of other lovely walks in the area taking in the surrounding woods or heading up to the lovely villages of Carperby or Aysgarth. Next to the Centre is the Coppice Café which serves a great selection of drinks and meals largely made with locally-sourced ingredients.

Parking Here

There is car parking for 80 cars but the car park is not accessible for coaches. Coach parking is available at the Falls car park by the junction with the A684 road. You need to pay for parking using the pay & display machine, but it is well worth it, as you can base a walk to the lower, middle and upper falls from here safely, as well as making a visit to the cafe.

Getting here on Public Transport

There is a regular bus service between Leyburn and Hawes which provides access to the village of Aysgarth. The National Park Centre and Falls are a 10 minute walk away.

April to October, daily, 10am to 5pm.
November to March, weekends only*, 10am to 4pm.
Closed throughout January.
Additional opening: 22 and 23 December, 27 to 31 December.

How many falls are there at Aysgarth?

There are three falls, the upper, middle and lower falls.

Do I have to pay to view the Falls?

There is no charge to view Aysgarth Falls, however, you will need to park, and the car park at the visitor centre is a Pay & Display as is that on the opposite side of the river, so you'll pay a small parking fee during your visit.

How long are the walks around Aysgarth Falls?

There are several walks, to view the upper, middle and lower falls, with the lower falls walk being the longest. In total is may take you around an hour, and be approximately a mile and a half, though you should note there are plenty of ways to extend the walk on well kept footpaths, and also you may like to spend a while gazing at the mesmerising water cascading down the falls!

Are there toilets?

Yes, there are toilets at the Aysgarth Falls visitor centre, as well as a well stocked cafe and a gift shop. There are also free maps supplied by the National Park, both on paper, and on clear signs dotted about the area.
