Situated just outside Skipton in Yorkshire, the Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway runs 4 miles between the award winning station at Bolton Abbey and Embsay station built in 1888.Most trains are hauled by magnificiently restored steam tank engines, the oldest one dating back to 1908. Steam trains run every Sunday throughout the year and up to 7 days a week in summer.Many special events are held each year including visits from Thomas the Tank Engine on the Easter, Spring Bank and August Bank Holiday and Santa at Christmas. A very popular 1940s weekend is also held in September.Both stations have gift shops specialising in many Thomas the Tank engine items and are a must for any young ‘Thomas’ fans.
