Since opening in 2007, twins Matthew and Michele Barker, the partnership and passion behind The Westwood Restaurant, focus on offering high quality, locally sourced ingredients, showcasing the best of what the region has to offer.
The Westwood has become one of the most popular restaurants in East Yorkshire, situated in the historic market town of Beverley, between York and Hull, the Westwood is located a short walk from the Westwood Pasture offering stunning views of the black mill, the race course and Beverley Minster. Set in the grounds of Beverley’s former Grade II listed Georgian courthouse, The Westwood’s contemporary interior blends beautifully with the period features and charm of this historic building.
For Matthew cooking is about getting the best out of the ingredients, delivering beautiful plates packed with great flavour. The Westwood believe in making the most of the seasons, so the menu is constantly changing to bring you the best of locally sourced produce – beef sourced from North Yorkshire and seafood caught off Yorkshire’s East coast feature heavily.

Highly rated on reviews so we booked lunch to celebrate a significant birthday. We weren't disappointed. The Westwood Restaurant was brilliant. The team were really welcoming, super friendly, attentive without being intrusive, & nothing was too much trouble. The bar & restaurant are very smart with a relaxed atmosphere. Nothing was hurried & the 3 hour lunch was perfect. Even the unexpected Happy Birthday macaron was a lovely touch. The food was 1st rate & exceeded already high expectations: really high quality ingedients transformed into exceptional dishes. The sharing steak was very much appreciated and personally I'd recommend the halibut - hazelnut crust was super tasty. As for the deserts - I normally roll my eyes at anything deconstructed but the carrot & orange cake was amazing. Really enjoyed our visit & the kind touches made the celebration extr special even though we hadn't said why we were there. Thank you!
From the moment you are greeted and shown to the bar upstairs you know you are going to have a great evening. After ordering we were shown to our table in a light relaxed area downstairs. Our starters were delicious and our steak main courses extremely tasty. I had the Wagyu bavette which was so tasty. We finished with a shared sweet and coffee. I can’t wait to return; we’ve left it much too long since our last visit. Five Stars !

We visited yesterday afternoon and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. From the moment we arrived, the staff were welcoming and attentive, making us feel right at home. The food was simply incredible—fresh, beautifully presented, and bursting with flavor. Every dish we tried was thoughtfully prepared, and it was clear a lot of care went into each one. The atmosphere was warm and relaxing, perfect for a leisurely afternoon meal. Truly a gem of a restaurant—we can’t wait to return
