Booked an appointment online for a bathroom quote with Wickes which was made for Sunday 18 January for a home visit. Call received this morning (Saturday 17 January) from a rather demotivated member of staff asking what I wanted doing with my bathroom and wanted to let me know that a bathroom fitting would cost in the region of £11,000. I was advised to measure up myself and take photos then visit the store to discuss if I wanted to go ahead. I found this to be the worst sales pitch I’ve ever encountered and put it to the member of staff that the long and short of our conversation was that he didn’t want to waste his time visiting my address on a Sunday afternoon to price up a quote if I wasn’t absolutely sure what I wanted to spend. To my surprise he agreed and said the store was very busy and people don’t always realise the cost of a bathroom. Even though the member of staff had no idea about the size of my bathroom and what sort of suite I would like or indeed could afford, I decided to cancel the appointment as I wasn’t getting any positive vibes from him at all. I appreciate it would help staff at the store if people had a rough idea what they wanted to spend on a bathroom before they receive a quote, however, most people (like myself) are not up-to-date on current prices. That said, if I felt the products and service were good value for money, then I would consider paying more for quality. I just feel I was being talked out of using Wickes as a service and they couldn’t be bothered visiting my home to provide a quote. The member of staff did mention using my own tradesperson that may be a cheaper option for fitting but I wanted to see if Wickes would offer a decent package for the product and service that was covered under warranty. I was informed I would receive an email after the call to send any pictures and measurements for a quote. The member of staff couldn’t even be bothered to put any content in the correspondence (including my name) only signing off with his name and position at Wickes. Not the sort of customer service I would expect from a large company. I think it’s safe to say Wickes won’t miss my business and I certainly won’t miss theirs!
Always stocked with everything on the website and click and collect is fast. It’s only let is its location takes an age to get through the Barnsley traffic
I am absolutely appalled by the customer service from Wickes. I do not recommend and strongly advise against using them. Here is my nightmare experience: I ordered a bathroom mirror on November 10th. It was supposed to arrive within 10 days. I then received a link to arrange the delivery, but I couldn't open it. According to the tracking number, the mirror, worth £260, was marked as "delivered." Following this, I had conversations at the Barnsley store. They told me the system showed the mirror as delivered, but they had no signature, photo, or any proof of delivery to confirm it actually arrived at my house. They then admitted they could not locate where the mirror was and stated they could not issue a refund or deliver a new one. After this, I tried to call customer service dozens of times. For five days, I spent over two hours each day on hold, and no one ever answered. Feeling completely helpless, I finally received an email stating my mirror would be delivered on December 2nd. However, after that message, I then got another one asking me if I wanted to cancel the order and to provide a reason. Now, I am still unsure if the mirror will actually arrive on December 2nd or not. This has been an absolute disgrace. I do not recommend Wickes and this is the worst review I can possibly give. Their customer service is a complete failure.
It’s a hit and miss. Some days, you get the feel of people trying their best to offer great service. Some days too you come across unhelpful staff. When ask for help, their body language completely gives them away.
I think it’s a great place to shop for home repair and renovation supplies 🏡🔧. You can find all kinds of paints 🎨, flooring 🪵, taps and fittings 🚰, and everything else you might need to refresh or renovate your home ✨🛒.
