Nice little stop for a long journey. We were coming from Southampton port from a 6 hour journey, as we had just been on a cruise and saw that this small stop was here. Very convenient.
I paid by phone and tried to start filling, and the old man working there started shouting “sir, sir” from the window (I’m clearly a woman?) then said that I need to wait 10 minutes to fill up (after the payment had already been authorised). I asked why, and he said (with an attitude) because he needs 10 minutes to count up cash…? I just went to the next Shell as I was making a 9 hour journey and I didn’t have time to wait for this strange man to finish the task he was on. This happened on 9/6/24 at 22:15- managers please investigate this incident as your staff are driving customers away (also turned away the person in front of me and who knows how many more).
About a mile from the A1(M), signposted as Leeming Bar Rest Area. Petrol is the same price as a regular garage, not the normal extortionate motorway prices. If you are heading south, you can follow the A6055 to the next junction, which is much quieter than the main motorway, and you can still do 60MPH.
Two big, rude, shouting, monster swilling, women serving. No hello or thanks or goodbye. Horrible. Gets 2 stars only because the fuel was reasonable.
Overpriced on everything I had to walk back out.
