Beautiful Village pond with a lot of waterfowl ducks and occasionally herons are seen on the pond. The island in the middle of the pond has a large Stone Cross commemorating the men from the village who give their lives in the First World War. The memorial was unveiled in 1923. The popular altisidora pub is opposite the pond.

Bucolic village pond with lots of waterfowl in Bishop Burton on the edge of the Yorkshire Wolds. Situated opposite the excellent Marstons pub, the Altisidora. (Recommended) The pond has it's World War 1 Memorial Cross sited on an island in the middle. The cross was unveiled in 1922. Today there was a heron on the island. I always get excited when I see a heron, they're just imposing and magnificent birds, like buzzards are. But I'm sure the fish don't agree with me on that!
