North Coast 4x4 is a commercial vehicle hire company and garage workshop with a reputation for integrity, reliability, and excellence in management.

North Coast 4x4 was formed by Steven Jones as a Sole Proprietorship in December 2003 and operated as a Land Rover franchise in York before the business was relocated to Catterick in 2008 and took on its current position as a commercial vehicle hire company. In October 2011 Steven & Michelle Jones purchased Beacon Garage and extended the business profile to incorporate a MOT and Servicing workshop.

The Company experienced good fortune in recent years through contracts it was awarded by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) to regularly supply hire vehicles for military use.
North Coast 4x4 is involved in two distinct activities:
Commercial & Private
Vehicle Hire
Workshop Repairs, Maintenance,
Servicing and MOT’s.

The vehicle hire aspect of the business alone brought in an income of approx. £410,000 last year (2011). This was generated through 782 hires to the MoD, these hires averaged from 1 day hire to hire of up to 3 months. In addition to this last year’s summer camp project generated a further 290, 28 day hires over its 14 week duration.

From 1st January 2012 to 1st July 2012 North Coast 4x4 has honored 831 commercial hires and it is forecast that this figure will exceed 1700 hires by 31st December 2012. With the inclusion of the 2012 summer camp business and all private hires generated by advertising and word of mouth North Coast 4x4 will have provided vehicles to more than 2500 hire tasks by the end of 2012.

The current fleet (130), which is constantly being expanded, consists of:

40 Minibuses (Ford Transit 350 LWB and LDV 400 Convoy)
35 4x4 Vehicles all fitted with lockable storage cabs (Mitsubishi L200, Mitsubishi Warrior and Ford Rangers)
35 Combi Vans (LDV Maxus MPV)
20 Panel Vans (Citroen Relay and LDV Maxus)

To ensure peace of mind for our customers the fleet is serviced, MOT’d and inspected regularly by our team of in house mechanical technicians. For additional security they are all covered by RAC breakdown and can have any minor tyre or brake issues resolved while on hire at any Kwick Fit Centre nationwide or by Kwick Fit Mobile service and all windscreen damage can be dealt with by Auto Windscreens.

The company's Short Term Objectives (within the next few months) are to continue to increase the stock of vehicles available for hire and to increase activity in all Divisions. This in return will increase annual profit and allow North Coast 4x4 to seek out more commercial hire contracts as the company continues to expand. Its Long term objectives are:

to maintain the level of current business achieved to date, and move on to car hire and to convert a portion of the showroom into an auto spares retail outlet.

The prospects for North Coast 4x4 continued growths are excellent, with the addition of a sub-contractors contract with Hertz and several possible other sub-contractors contracts in the pipeline. Our turnover should yet again increase this business year.

The company's overall objective is to satisfy the contracts it currently holds as well as all new contracts awarded within this market segment. This demands integrity and a high quality of service, and to maintain a steady growth in sales volume that will sustain the company for the years ahead.
