After a particularly horrible period in our lives we booked a weekend away in an Airbnb close by . The beach was the draw , particularly as we have dogs . After doing a review of the carpark and how to get to the beach , we decided this was for us . (I have limited capacity in walking) The car park is a grass area which I would imagine in wet months could be tricky. We paid , £1:50 for the first hour , then £1 per hour thereafter ., so 2 hours total (£2:50). Seemed reasonable . We spent exactly 1.5 hrs on the beach , to give us plenty of time to get back up , again I’m not the quickest walker . We reached the carpark with at least 10 mins to spare , on both occasions. Now two weeks later I have received two penalty notices for £100 each telling me we over stayed . Absolutely 100% not true . We are always very careful about parking . Worryingly this is now the 2nd time in a month this has happened . I’m convinced these car parks are designed to try and catch you out . The machines need updating or recalibration. MY ADVICE IS THIS ……PHOTOGRAPH YOUR TIME IN/OUT. PHOTOGRAPH THE MACHINE AND MOST IMPORTANTLY THE TICKET. If you do get a ticket , don’t just roll over , fight it. Many are issuing penalties unfairly and in some cases illegally, although for legal reasons I’m not stating that on this occasion they are . PARK ON THE ROAD
We park here regularly and have probably paid them £100s in parking fees over the years. Once after paying for 5 hours we were 20 mins late leaving and were fined £100. We have 14 days to pay at the reduced rate from the date of the letter and the letter took a week to arrive. Appeals take 15 days for a response so it's a complete scam. We just won't park there again. We'll park for free on the road! Don't park here.
Careful take pictures of tickets and mind time. Penalty notice received £60 for just over 10 mins over stay. Parking on road just before is free so I won’t bother with the paid car park next time.
Cheap and easy to get to. It is just a field though so be careful if there’s a lot of rain. The path down to the beach is steep and not accessible for those with wheelchairs or poor balance.
It is possible to park on the road for free, however the car parking rates are fair at £5 for the entire day, it is much closer to the beach which is helpful when carrying a lot of things and it is much easy to find a parking space when it is busy. The car park is worth the £5 fee. There is also a toilet and a surf shop next to the car park.
